# Creating Routes

> Build routes from addresses, imports, or your orders inbox in Bodha Route Planner.

## Route basics

A route is a sequence of stops assigned to a date and (optionally) a driver.
Routes move through these statuses:

| Status | Meaning |
| - | - |
| **Draft** | Being built — stops can be added, removed, or reordered |
| **Planned** | Optimized and ready for review |
| **Dispatched** | Sent to drivers |
| **In Progress** | At least one stop has been started |
| **Completed** | All stops finished |

## Adding stops

### Paste addresses

Copy a column of addresses from Google Sheets, Excel, or any text source. In
the route editor, click **Paste Addresses** and paste your clipboard. Bodha Route Planner
geocodes each address and adds it as a stop.

### Import from file

Go to **Import** and upload a `.csv` or `.xlsx` file. Bodha Route Planner auto-detects
columns for:

* Address (required)
* Recipient name, phone, email
* Notes / delivery instructions
* Time window (start, end)
* Parcel count, weight
* Custom properties

Map any unrecognized columns manually, then confirm the import.

### From the Orders inbox

If you receive orders via the API or integrations (Shopify, Google Sheets,
etc.), they land in the **Orders** inbox. Select the orders you want to
plan and click **Add to Route**.

## Multi-day routes

For deliveries spanning multiple days, Bodha Route Planner can split stops across days
based on driver availability, time windows, and capacity. Enable
**Multi-Day Planning** in your route settings to access this feature.

## Duplicating routes

Need the same stops tomorrow? Open a completed route, click **⋯ → Duplicate**,
pick the new date, and a fresh draft is created with the same stop list.

## Tips

> [!TIP]
>
> **Time windows matter.** If a customer says "deliver between 9 AM and noon",
> adding that window helps the optimizer plan a realistic sequence instead of
> backtracking.

> [!TIP]
>
> **Service time** is how long you spend at each stop (loading, signatures,
> etc.). Set a default in Settings → Route Planning, or override per stop.
