# Depot Management

> Set up and manage depots — the starting and ending locations for your delivery routes in Bodha Route Planner.

## What is a depot?

A depot is the location where your drivers start (and optionally end) their routes. It represents your warehouse, distribution center, office, or any physical location where vehicles are loaded and dispatched from.

Bodha Route Planner uses your depot location to:

* Calculate drive times from the starting point to the first stop
* Determine the return trip time (if "Return to depot" is enabled)
* Optimize stop sequences based on geographic proximity to the depot
* Show the depot pin on route maps

## Setting up your first depot

1. Go to **Settings → Depots**.
2. Click **Add Depot**.
3. Enter your depot address or search for it on the map.
4. Optionally drag the map pin to fine-tune the exact location.
5. Give the depot a name (e.g. "Main Warehouse", "Downtown Hub").
6. Click **Save**.

Bodha Route Planner geocodes the address automatically and places a pin on the map.

> [!TIP]
>
> Place the pin at your vehicle exit gate, not the building entrance. This gives drivers a more accurate starting route from where they actually leave the premises.

## Multiple depots

If your fleet operates from more than one location, you can add multiple depots:

1. Go to **Settings → Depots**.
2. Click **Add Depot** again.
3. Enter the new location details and save.

When creating a route, select which depot the route starts from. Each route can use a different depot.

### Depot limits by plan

| Plan | Depots included |
| - | - |
| **Starter** | 1 depot |
| **Pro** | 1 depot (contact support for additional depots) |
| **Enterprise** | Unlimited depots |

## Editing a depot

1. Go to **Settings → Depots**.
2. Click on the depot you want to edit.
3. Update the name, address, or pin location.
4. Click **Save**.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Changing a depot's address does not retroactively update routes that were already optimized with the old address. Only new optimizations use the updated location.

## Return to depot

By default, routes end at the last stop. If your drivers need to return to the depot at the end of their route:

1. Go to **Settings → Route Planning**.
2. Enable **Return to depot**.

When enabled, the optimizer adds the depot as the final waypoint and includes the return drive time in shift calculations and ETAs.

## Assigning depots to routes

When creating or editing a route:

1. Open the route in the route editor.
2. In the route settings panel, select the **Depot** dropdown.
3. Choose the depot for this route.
4. Click **Optimize** — the optimizer uses the selected depot as the origin.

If you only have one depot, it's automatically selected for all routes.
